It is just about a month ago since a gloom was cast over this district before by the death of the late Mrs. Laurie, wife of James Laurie, Mahurangi Head and sister-in-law to the late Cantain Kasper. Her mother, Mrs. Parker, who is one of the oldest residents in this district, settled he ny vears ago, when her deceased daughter as but a child. The late Mrs. Laurie for a considerable time before her death had but indifferent health, but not such as to couh'ne her to bed until about six weeks before her death. She died on the ISth of August, aged 43, leaving a family of nine, five sons and four daughters, to mourn th«ir loss. — [Mullet Poijit Correspoadent, September 17 J
