THE PARNELL INQUIRY
CURRENT REPORTS.
ACTION OF THE P.
THE TIMES' WITNESSES.
INVINCIBLES TO BE CALLED.
[press association.]
London, September 18. It is believed that the Parnellites will endeavour to prove that the Times employed private detectives, who made use of forged documents and subborned witnesses in connection with the charges made againsb them by that paper.
A report is current to the effect that the Times will apply for a writ o£ habeas corpus to obtain the attendance of those Invincibles who are serving life sentences for the Phoenix Park murders, to give evidence to connect the Land and National Leagues with the murders.
Mr. John Dillon will be required to give bail, himself in £1000, before being released from prison i'or the purpo.se of giving evidence before the Charges and Allegations Commission.
The press generally eulogises the attitude adopted by Sir James Hannen at the preliminary proceedings. The Tim es, however, makes no comment at all. The Daily News claims that the d& cision of the Commissioners requiring the Times to open the case and produce documents vindicates the contention that the Liberals have made all along.
