ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The Acclimatisation Society held their regular meeting yesterday at the Museum Buildings. Mr. 11. C. Bars tow (President) occupied the chair, and Messrs. Burt, T. B. Hill, Harrow, and Shakespeare wero also present. Financial Statement. — The monthly financial statement was read, and showed receipts to the amount of £6 10s, and payments £15 as 4d, leaving a balance in the Bank of New Zealand of £'230 l'2s '2d. Trout.—Mr. Cheeseman stated that since the last meeting trout had been distributed as follows :250 at Otorohanga, Upper Waipa; '200 in Lake Takapuna ; '200 at Papakura; 100 to Mr. Jones, Pukekohc; 200 to Mr. Gould, Morrinsville. The number of young brown trout remaining was about 180, of which 50 had been sold to Mr. Hill. It was resolved to liberate 50 trout in the Western Springs. Mr. Cheeseman also announced the successful hatching of the rainbow trout ova, about 4000 or 5000 young fish having been obtained. One thousand had been sent to Mr. Johnson in exchange for brook trout. Donation.—Mr. Cheeseman said that Mr. Gould had forwarded a donation of £5 to the society. Accounts.—Accounts to the sum of £"25 9s 2d were passed for payment.
