A meeting of the committee of the Auckland Racing Club is to be held this afternoon for the election of officers, when the handicapping question will be dealt with. The brood mare Locket (dam of Necklace) died at Sylvia Park yesterday while foaling. The foal (a fine colt by Nordenfeldt) is alive, and there is every prospect of it surviving. The cause of the mare's death was internal hemorrhage.
