DOMINATIONS FOR BOROUGH COUNCILLORS.
Newton.—Yesterday the nominations for Councillors to fill the vacancies in the Borough of Newton, took place at noon. For Surrey Ward : Mr. J. S. Cox was nominated by Messrs. S. C. Brown and David ouds ; and Mr. James McCormick by Messrs. G. A. Gribbin and H. A. McKean. Sussex Ward : Mr. W. Ambury was nominated by Messrs. S. Crabtree and J. Roberts ; and Mr. J. Webley by Messrs. A. C. Riggs and H. T. Buckley. Richmond Ward : Mr. John Wm. Porter was nominated by Messrs. E. Buckley and J. ftaddis; Mr. Robert Laing, nominated by Messrs. H. Binstead and F. J. Jones ; and Mr. W. J. Andrews, nominated by Messrs. J- Winter and J. Giles. The election in each ward takes place on the 13th inst. Pa p.sell.—Yesterday at noon Mr. M. Rawlings attended it the Parnell Borough Offices to receive nominations of candidates for the three vacancies in the Borough Council caused by the retirement by effluxion of time of Messrs. Lyell, McCabe, and McLachlan. Mr. W. S. Lyell was nominated by Messrs. R. Frater and Jas. Gilmour. Mr. John McCabe was nominated by Messrs. W. S. Lyell and Geo. Raynes. Captain Wm. Easdale Thomas was nomidated by Messrs. J. F. Clarke and R. S. Krirjrrg ; and Mr. Caleb Wood was nominated by Messrs. Chas. Bagley and James Gilbert. There being only three vacancies and four candidates, a poll will be taken on the 13th inst. Newmarket. — Major Pirie, returning officer for Newmarket borough, yesterday received nominations of candidates for the three annual vacancies in the Council. Messrs. R. R. Holme, Geo. Kent, and John Lumpkin, the retiring candidates, were duly nominated and declared elected.
