RUSSELL. September 1. —The colliers Rose, Janet, and Saxon are wind bound. The weather is fine, with strong south-east breeze. PORT CHALMERS. _ September 1. — Arrived : Catlin, ketch, from the North : Beautiful Star, from Oamaru. September 2, s.s. Hauroto, from Lyttelton. Sailed: Tainui, s.s., Captain Barlow, for Wellington, with the following cargo for London—6sl bales wool and skins, 10 bales basils, 16 bales leather, 8460 carcases mutton. A STORMY PASSAGE. Timaru, Saturday. — The bavtpientine Clytie arrived from Newcastle last night via Foveaux Strait. She experienced very rough weather all the way to the strait. Several sails were split and carried away. The deck was constantly wet, and the crew suffered much from exposure and wet. being unable to dry their clothes. All but the captain and cook were laid up off and on with colds and swollen feet and hands. On Saturday a heavy sea broke aboard, and did considerable damage, i.nd injured the mate by dashing him against the pumps.
