THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS.

[PRESS association.] London, August 31. The fielding of the Australian Team during the first innings of the English Eleven was very good, and Bonnor made two splendid catches. This morning the Australians, who, on the previous day, had lost McDonnell and Bannerman for 32 runs, resumed their innings, and the bowling and fielding of the Englishmen was simply superb, and the remainder of the Australians were dismissed when the total had reached 81. The visitors being 91 behind the score of the English Eleven, had to follow on ; but the stand in the second innings was very —many of the best bats being dismissed with ducks' eggs—and with 70 on the register the last wicket fell, leaving the Englishmen victorious in the third test match by an innings and 21 runs. In the first innings of the visitors Peel was well on the spot, and his record of 7 wickets for 31 runs is one of the best against the Australian Eleven. In the second innings of the Australians 6 wickets fell for 7 runs ; but then Turner and Lyons got together, and, by splendid cricket, raised the score to 55, when a separation was effected. The other three wickets only added 15 to the total, and the innings closed for 70. Grace caught three of the Australian team in their second innings. The match was watched with great interest by a large number of spectators, and the winners received an ovation on returning to the pavilion. The following are the scores Australians.First Innings.
