THE GALE ON THE EAST COAST.

[by TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Gisborne, Saturday. A fishing smack, Three Brothers, of about twenty tons, left here on Thursday for a bay along the coast to load posts. The vessel got caught by a heavy southern gale and sea, which sprang up in the night. No shelter being available, and knowing the vessel would be unable to live in a heavy sea, the captain ran the vessel ashore on Sandy Beach, where she was broken to atoms. The men on board managed to get ashore.
