"NO NEW ZEALAND BUTTER SOLD HERE."
TO THB EDITOE. Sir,—Your sub-leader appearing in this day's issue anent our butter in the La,uneeston market, reminds me forcibly of what I saw recently in Sydney. In walking up either Market or King-sfcreet in that city 1 came to a full stop before a provision dealer's retail establishment. The matter that caased me to pause was a large blackboard with the words, "JNo New Zealand butter sold here," carefully written thereon. I felfe greatly indignant, for I consider the quality of our butter, afe any rate, such as I usually have set on my table, fully equal, if not vastly superior, to such as I tasted either in New South Wales or Victoria. Perhaps some of our grocers, produce merchants, or farmers, can say whether this stigma thus publicly levelled against our dairy produce in the capital city of New South Wales is justly earned ? and if it is an unjusfe imputation, suggest what steps should be taken to protect our produce from such slanderous insinuations.—l am, kc, John R. Randerson. Queen-street, August 28, 1888.
