AN EX-SCHOOLMASTER SENT TO PRISON.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Cambridge, Tuesday. On Monday a man named John Henry Sutherland, olio-i John King Kimball, was brought before Messrs Russell and Wells, J. P., charged with larceny. The prisoner visited Cambridge on Saturday, and while the people of the house were busy, ransacked several bedrooms in the Criterion Hotel, stealing a gold locket and chain (the property of Mrs. Allwood, the cook), some clothing belonging to J. S. Buckland and the landlord. The prisoner was detected before leaving the hotel, and being taxed with the robbery, bolted ; but was arrested the same evening, and was yesterday sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labour. The prisoner had formerly occupied a respectable position, having been a schoolmaster, but latterly a bush cook.
