THE ESCAPE OF GASPARINI.
[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Monday. The steamer Wakatipu arrived from Sydney to-night. Immediately on the steamer coming alongside, the French Consul and the Hon. G. Fisher, Italian Consul, proceeded on board to make enquiries respecting the disappearance of Gasparini. The officers of the ship express the opinion that the convict jumped overboard. They assert that the search of the vessel was very minute.
