FIRES IN THE SOUTH.

A fire broke out at half-past twelve lust night in High-street, by which Langley's bakery was destroyed and two other small buildings seriously damaged. • These are the premises that were injured by the fire in July. Langley's building was insured for £100 in the Phoenix Office. The stock and furniture, valued at £150, were uninsured, proposals which were made having been recently declined. The fire broke out in an office where Mr. Langley had £60 put away in bank notes, he having been too late New Plymouth, Thursday. The residence of F. Hoone, at Waihi, to the north of Waitara, was burnt down yesterday morning. Mrs. Hoone had been trimming a kerosene lamp, and lighted it to see if it burnt properly, when it accidentally got knocked over. The oil spread and set fire to the room. She tried to subdue the flames, but failed, and the house was burnt to the ground. Insurances: Building, £200 in the Norwich Union office. Furniture, £250 in the South British. Very little was saved.
