SPORTING.
A meeting of the committee of the Auckland Racing Club was to have been held yesterday afternoon, for the purpose of considering the programmes for the coming season, and the appointment of a handicapper and starter, but owing to the illness of the chairman (Mr. T. Morrin) a postponement was rendered necessary, the date at present being left open. Australian papers to hand state that there has been a run on Malua for the Melbourne Cup, and he is now favourite at 100 to 6. Volley continues to do good work at Randwick, and is now quoted at 4 to 1 for the V.R.C. Derby.
