THE DIRECT SERVICE.
[BY TELEGEAI'H. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Ckristchubch, Thursday. It is stated that the New Zealand Shipping Company, and Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company, are completing arrangements to tender for the direct mail service fortnightly, each on such terms as will yield considerable profit to the colony. It is in contemplation to allow passengers travelling by both lines the privilege of stopping en route, and continuing the journey by the steamers of either line.
