SUPREME COURT.—Judge's Chambers. Friday. (Before His Honor Mr. Justice Gillies. Probate. — Probate was granted in the will of George Wortlnngton, deceased. Setting A.«idk an Order. —Public Trust Office Act, 187tJ, re John Burke, deceased. Mr. Mahonv, instructed by Mr. Barton, moved to gel aside an order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court, New Plymouth. Mr. Brook tic Id appeared for the Public Trustee. The application was further adjourned for a week. (..'has. HughStott v. Duncan McGregor. —Mr. Mahony moved to quash a., order of the Resident. Magistrate, Paten. Mr. Button appeared in the case. The procedure was under the Imprisonment for Debt Act, and there was no power to grant a rehearing, so that they now as a matter of form moved to quash the order so as to remove the case to the Supreme Court. Mr. Mahony consented, and the order was made. New Zealand Farmers' Co-oeerativk Association (Limited). —Mr. Button moved for a summons to proceed with winding-up the above company. Mr. Button said what was wanted now was to fix a time for the official liquidator. Mr. Hesketh said this was a voluntary winding-up under the supervision of the Court, and the official liquidator could only bo appointed when it was a winding-up by Court. Vagrants. — Margaret Barstow and I Bridget Weston were charged with a ! breach of the Police Offences Act, ISB4, | section 25, sub-section 9, by being found I by night without lawful excuse in a dwell- '■ inghouse situated in Albert-street, on ; August 2. Constable Howell proved the ' case. The Bench sentenced them each to ; a month's imprisonment. Stealing Tobacco.' — George Evans Sawyer, alius James Scanlon, alias George Lovett, was charged with stealing i:; sticks of tobacco, valued at lis, J die property of Samuel Cox, on August 2. | The prisoner pleaded guilty. Sergeant,I Major Pratt stated the facts to the Court, which were that a man named Nixon saw the accused steal the tobacco, and followed him up to Rubie's oyster saloon, when he went and informed a constable, who came and arrested him, andj on searching found the tobacco on him. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
