The ceremony of laying the corner-stone of the Catholic University at Washington was attended by the President, the Cabinet Ministers, and many members of Congress. The donations already made to the sity exceed 700,000 dollars. A procession, marshalled by General Rosecrans, marched to the site, and the Most Rev. Dr. Spalding delivered an address. The house steward desires to thank Mr. Loomb, senior, of Panmure, for his gift of two bags of new potatoes for the use of the Hospital.
