In the annual report of the Wellington Meat Export Company, the directors state that " after writing off £2291 3s 2d for depreciation, there remains at the credit of the profit and loss account a sum of £3673 6s 2d, including £49 5s 9d brought forward from last year." They recommend that a dividend of 8 per cent, be declared, absorbing £1553 15s ; that a bonus be paid to shippers during the last year at the rate of 3d per head upon sheep, lid per head upon lambs, "and 3d per lOOlbs upon beef. This will absorb a further sum of £1350 Is 6d, leaving £769 9s 8d to carry forward. During the past year 104,240 sheep and lambs and beef, equivalent to 660 head of cattle, have been frozen at the works, as against 50,601 sheep and lambs during the previous year. Owing to the satisfactory result of the year's work it has been decided to reduce the freezing charge for the current year from 3Jd for mutton and beef and §d for lambs to fd for all. ,
