SUPREME COURT CASES.
[BY telegraph.— ASSOCIATION,] Christchurch, Monday. At the Supreme Court, William Fleming, for arson, was sentenced to twelve months' hard labour ; George Alexander and William Anderson, for burglary, to two years' hart 1 labour ; John Nimmon, for burglary, to three years' penal servitude. Charles James Escott, charged with embezzlement from the Lyttelton Times Company, r leaded guilty, and was sentenced to two years' probation to refund the amount embezzled, £110, and to pay the expenses of the prosecution, £31. John Cockhead pleaded guilty to two charges of housebreaking. Sentence was deferred to Wednesday. True bills were found in all the cases on the calendar. The trial of Seenley, for shooting at Peter Sinclair at Rolleston, is fixed for Wednesday. Wellington, Monday. At the Supreme Court to-day, Henry Fuller pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. T. A. McMuir pleaded guilty to j larceny. Both were remanded, pending the probation officer's report. Nelly Hurley, for larceny from the person, was sentenced to twelve months' imprisonment; O'Donnell, for breaking and entering, to two years. Duhedik, Monday. At the Supreme Court Elizabeth Deans was acquitted on a charge of forgery and uttering a Post Office Savings Bank deposit receipt; Robert McPherson pleaded guilty to stealing a watch, and was sentenced to four months' hard labour. In the case of Francis C. Lombardie, charged with unlawfully wounding, the jury returned a verdict that the wound was inflicted in selfdefence, and he was acquitted.
