AUCKLAND INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS.

The usual monthly meeting of the Auckland Institute of Architects was held yesterday afternoon at the old Council Chambers, Mr. Thomas Mahoney(president) in the chair. The chief subject under discussion was the . general conditions of contract, which were read as amended and adopted subject to legal revision, and ordered to be printed thereafter. The present conditions of contract are the outcome of a dispute which took place some years ago between the builders and architects, and have 11 along proved somewhat unsatisfactory from a legal point of view ; iiertce the necessity for revision. During the reading of one of the clauses a heated discussion arose- upon the accuracy or otherwise of surveys made by authorised euryeyorß. A letter was read from London, desiring the roll of membership and other information for insertion in a professional directory abouti to be published, and a reply was ordered to be sent giving the desired information. At the last meeting a motion was received from Mr. Saunderson, of New Plymouth, to the effect that Parliament be petitioned for the registration of architects. The secretary was instructed to write Mr. Saunderson, stating that his motion was ordered to lie on the table until advices were received from home giving the result of the proceedings taken there in* the same direction. j
