McDohough, of Hikufcaia, has lodged an application in the Warden's Office for a claim of 30 acres at Te Aroha, to be called the Bonanza Extended. Caledonian.—The crashing of five loads of quartz from the winze below No. 2 level yielded 16oz lldwi; gold, and 35 loads from the junction of No. 1 and 2 reefs No. 1 level looz 6dwt. • Surprise Claim (Puriri). — Bedford and party crushed seven tons for 15oz 16dwfc gold. Paeroa, Monday. Messrs. W. R. Wilson (of Broken Hills), J. McCosh Clark, and others, paid a visit to Waihi and Karangahake on Saturday and yesterday. Some very good stone is being grassed from the Roseruont portion of the Waihi Company's ground. Mr. Alfred Lock wood's furnace, for treating ores, is being well received in Auckland. A small plant is to be erected in Onehunga. MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. Saxon. —The contractors for low level are making fair progress, and the face is now SO feet from the shaft. The reef is still small, from three, to four inches, in very good couii try, but so far no gold has-been seen in the quartz. Two or three pounds of picked stone came to hand to-day from the hangingwall portion of main reef at No. 3 level. There is no change to report from the stopea. Amiiigam on hand to date,3l6oz lOdwt. The manager telegraphed yesterday :—"Twentyfive pounds picked stone from hangingwall portion of reef, leading stope, No. 3 level." New Prince Imperial.— is being freely seen in the eastern stopes on No. 1 reef, above No. 3 level. The reef is not large, but should it continue as at present, it will prove payable. In the prospecting workings in the western end, two men are engaged stoping along on the hangingwall of the reef. There is a rib of pood looking quartz, in which some splendid mineral is being met with, but up to the present no gold has been seen. Should thin rib of good stone keep clear of the main reef, I believe we will yet meet with payable prospects. The tributers are all working away with good heart. New Fearnoumkt.—Have been engaged i three days this week in timbering main drive. This work being complete, leaves everything T.K. readiness to continue the crosscut, or to drive on the course of main reef. Work has been suspended here for the present, in order to continue the sinking of the winze, which is down a depth of nine feet, and is going through a splendid class of country, the ground being a complete network of mineral seams and quartz veins. The main stringer, two inches m width, showed colours of gold i in breaking down.
