THE GOLDFIELDS.

[by telegraph. OWN* correspondents] Cokomandf.l, Thursday. Manaia. — Struck rich gold in a winze in the Manaia claim. There is every appearance of the party coming on something very good. They are down 12 feet, in excellent country, and very good surface indications. Hovell's Holding (Tiki). —Several loose specimens have been picked up, and loose dish prospects found. They have not been traced home as yet.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. New Manuk.au.—The dirt coming to hand from the stope on No. 5 lode continues to look about the same, and a few pounds of picked stone were saved last week. Thi3 block will be worked out in about six weeks, but I have another ready to put the hands in when finished west of the block now in hand. When taking out this block I shall also have a block on the hangingwall leader, —the one the old winze was sunk onand it should be a payable one, for the country is good for gold. Mulligan's leader : The winze is now squared down to No. 4 level, drive timbered up, and two passes formed. I have had a lot of trouble here, having had to go through Mr. Hunt's old workings in the shape of a drive 30 feet. I find this leader does not come down to within 16 feet of the levels, and what I took to be it i 3 only a small branch off it. It will be a week or two before I am properly up to it, when I hope to be able to report payable gold from this quarter. Saxon. —The mine manager telegraphed yesterday : " Twenty-five lbs picked stone, third stope, hangingwall leader, No. 4 level."
