THE NGATIMANIAPOTO AND TAWHIAO.
[from our own correspondent.]
Hamilton, Monday. Some doubt has been raised as to the correctness of a statement recently published, to the effect that Wahanui had replied, when twitted with deserting Tawhiao and tho Waikatos, that such was not tho case ; for it had bcon always intended to set apart a tract of land in somo central portion of the Rohi Potao block as a provision for Tawhiao and his people. With the object of ascertaining tho correctness or otherwise of the report, Wahanui was himself interviewed a few days ago. He was told the object of asking him for information on the question was to set the matter right before the public. He denied the correctness of the sratomont in Coto, and said there was not the slightest intention on his or anyone olso's part to provide in any way for Tawhiao or his people, and drew attention to the fact that Tawhiao's name is not even in the list of names for the Rohi Potae.
