FIRE IN NEWTON.

Shortly after three o'clock this morning the firebells ran out an alarm. The firo proved to be in a four-roomed cottage in Cobden-stroot. Newton, owned and occupied by a Mr. Isaac Wilcock, which was totally destroyed. There was an insurance of £75 on tho house, and £30 on the furniture, both risks being held by .the South British Insurance Company.
