Wellington, Thursday. Mr. John Robertson, at present master of Auckland steamer Staffa, has been appointed harbourmaster and pilot at Manukau. . ~
Lieutenant-Colonel Butts, No. 3 Militia, Lieutenant Douglas, R.N., Captain Coleman, Permanent Militia, and Captain Hume, late Cameron Highlanders, are gazetted a central Board for the examination of candidates for commissions in New Zealand Volunteer Force. Lieutenant-Colonel Butts is president. Mr. S. W. D'Arcy Irvine is gazetted inspector and superintendent of branches of the Government Insurance.*
It is notified in the Gazette that in consequence of the abolition of the Council of Military Education, the appointments of Lieutenant-Colonel Bailey as president, and LieutenanJ; Douglas as secretary of that Council, are revoked. The Gazette notifies the appointment of Mr. J. J. Dixon, Deputy District Land Registrar, Auckland, during the absence of Mr. Kissling, on leave
