About noon yesterday the German barque Mathilde Hennings, Captain Dade, arrived in port from New York via Wellington, with part of her original cargo. She left the former port on November 24th last, and arrived in Wellington on the 21st ultimo. After discharging the cargo consigned to that port, she left for Auckland on the 7th instant. Light favourable winds were experienced up the coast, and the East Cape was rounded on the 10th instant; the Great Barrier was abreast at 4 p.m. on Saturday, when the wind had freshened into a strong north-east gale. At eleven o'clock on Saturday night "the barque anchored off the Wade, and at nine yesterday morning she was boarded by Pilot McGillivrav, who brought her into port as above, anchor being dropped at the powder ground, as the vessel has some cases of cartridges on board. On the discharge of these, she will berth at the wharf, and we understand that as soon as she has unloaded she will take in gum for New York. The Mathilde Hennings is a wholesome-looking wooden vessel of 523 tons, and was built at Restock in Germany. ' The Union S.S. Co.'s Australia arrived from Wellington and East Coast ports yesterday morning about 7 o'clock, with passengers and cargo. Of the trip Mr. Bendall, purser, reports that the Australia left Wellington on the 10th instant at 5.30 p.m., and arrived at Napier next day at 4 p.m. On the 12th, she left at 2 p.m. and called at Gisborne, Tologa Bay, Waipiro, and Awanui, arriving in Auckland a 8 stated. She experienced favourable weather till the morning of the 14th, when the wind blew strongly from the N.E. From Whangarei the schooner Agues Martin came into port yesterday with a cargo of coal.

She is to take in timber there for Normanton, Gulf of Carpentaria. . On Saturday evening at 8 o clock the Northern S.S. Co.'s Wellington left for Whangarei, with a number of passengers and general cargo. . . . The lona arrived on Saturday night from Mercury Bay with general cargo. At about 5 o'clock yesterday the Clansman came in from Tauranga, her freight and passenger lists being each well filled. In the stream the brigantine Omaru and the barquentine Grecian Bend are awaiting a change in the wind to depart for Mercury Bay and Tairua respectively, while the Ada C. Owen, which was cleared at the Customs on Saturday for Rorotonga, is also in readiness to sail. In consequence of a telegram received in town yesterday that a three-masted ship had passed the Bay of Islands during the morning the tug Awhina left the harbour about ten o'clock to try to pick up the vessel on her arrival outside. Up to an early hour this morning she had not returned.

She left Dunedin at 4.20 p.m. on the 9th, and arrived at Lyttelton at 10 a.m. on the 10th; left again at 9 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 3.45 p.m. on the 11th ; left for Pic con and Nelson at 1.30 p.m. on the 12th, and arrived at the latter port at 1.1 a.m. on the 13th, left again -at 10 a.m. on the 14th, and arrived as above. Experienced line weather to Lyttelton, thence to Wellington strong north-west gale and heavy head sea ; had thick foggy weather between Picton and Nelson. Had to postpone sailing from Nelson 12 hours, owing to heavy sea on bar. Had a strong northerly gale and very heavy head sea from Nelson to arrival at Manukau Heads; was compelled to pass Taranaki without calling, owing to the heavy weather.
