Arthur and Buddle's Weekly Report.—The supply of produce has not been so Large as usual, larger quantities of many kinds could have been sold. '1 here has been an improvement in price of good cheese and bacon. The fruit supply is lessening, principally pears, apples, and quinces now coming to hand ; lemons nave sold high, although the sample was' not tirst-ciass, on account of so few sent in. Poultry was not entered in such largo numbers as they were last week; prices continued about the same, ruling low; there are but few first-class fowls coming forward. Three sales have been held; all were largely attended, and competition was good. The following are the lowest and highest prices obtained Fowls, lOd to Is £>d ; silver spangled Hamburg*, Is 4d to 2s 5d ; ducks. On Monday there was a sale of unredeemed pledges from Mr. A. S. Asher, pawnbroker, held at the mart. It continued for over seven hours; a crowded attendance throughout; smart competition; first-class prices. The sale of piano, furniture, etc., , at the residence of Mr. O'Brien, Richmond Road, was very fully attended, and bidding was brisk ; the prices obtained were good; piano, £20: tapestry suite, £10 ; curtains, 30s per pair ; sideboard, £7 ; carpet, £7; rug, 26s ; mirror, £3 10s; hall stand, £2 3s ; iron bedstead, £3 ; chest of drawers, £2 4s ; etc. On Tuesday sale of household furniture at the residence of Mr. H. Smith, Turner-street, was also well attended, and very satisfactory prices were obtained. On Wednesday the sale of household furniture, etc., at - mart, was but thinly attended, but little business done. On Wednesday and Thursday sales were held in Good--1 son's old shop, Queen-street, of a lot of drapery ; and clothing from England, there was a good ati tendance each day, and a good business done at prices in favour of the buyer. On Thursday the sale of plumber and gasfitter's plant and stock, held at tho Mart, passed off very satisfactorily; there ' was a good attendance. The properties Bold by ' order of the Registrar of the Supreme Court on Saturday, were both purchased by the mortgagee. MR. ALEXANDER AITKEN'S WEEKLY REPORT.— I During the past week a large business has been done, especially in the produce trade, the demand , for which has wonderfully increased. The supply, I although large, is far short of requirements, consequently prices are on the rise. ' Potatoes are in very 1 active demand ; the supply for the week exceeded • fifty tons, and all found buyers as soon as received. I Very few had to be taken in. Onions sell better, . but no improvement in price. Cheese, good, finds a speedy sale at 3}d to 4d; other sorts are hard to ' quit at 2Jd to 3d; buyers are very hard to please [ with quality. Butter, fresh, has declined Id per lb, J salt unaltered. The poultry supply was very large, I every pen being filled; the majority were out of i condition, and these kinds sell low, and affect the I price of good birds. The attendance at both sales was large throughout, and competition keen. The ' following prices were obtained :— Fowls,' inferior ' kinds, 9d to lOd ; fair conditioned, Is 3d to Is 6d ; 3 heavy young birds, Is Sd to Is lid ; roosters, Is 5d t to 2s 2d; purebred fowls, various kinds, 2s to 4s 7d 5 each; pigeons, 6d to lid each : turkeys, 2s 6d to 4s r 9d each; ducks, Is 7d to 2s 3d ; geese, none entered; . small pigs, 4s to 6s 6d each (no really good to hand); canaries, 2s 3d to 5s each. Potatoes were sold in > the early part of the week at £2155, and in the latter * end there was no difficulty in getting £3 to £3 ss; a 3 still further rise may be looked for unless Southern 3 ones come soon. Onions, good, gd to Jd; inferior * lots, id; chaff, unsaleable; oats, Is lOd to 2s J 3d; fowl wheat, 3s to 3s 3d ; Lapstone Kidney potatoes, £3 10s to £4 ; Ashleaf kidney, £6 to £6 10s; . magnum bonum kidneys, £310s to £4. (These kinds i are now in demand for early seed). Bran, £3 8s to - £3 10s ; pure bonedust, £8 ; cabbages, lid to 3s per i sackpumpkins, 2s lid to 3s 2d; mangold, §<f to Jd; carrots, 6Jd per dozen bunches, —2s 6d per I sack ; bush honey, in kegs, id to ltd ; white clover, : in hulk, 2sd to 3d,—in 2lb tins, 3Jd to 4d. 101b tins c are in best demand, 3Jd; section honey, rough kinds, 5 24d to 3d ; really choice, 4d to 4id. Fresh butter i still comes forward freely : inferior kinds, Sd to Bid; - medium, sjd to 6d; prime, 7d to 7Jd. (Boxes should a not contain more than 201b.) Eggs : A few small i lots realised Is 6d per dozen. Salt butter, pastry kinds, 4d to 4£d,—prime, sjd to 6d; bacon, local, &id to Gid,— Canterbury, OJd to 8d; hams, prime, 1 lUil,—seconds, 7d to Sid. Rock melons, 2d to 6d each ; pie melons, Is to 2s 6d per dozen ; citron melons, is 6d per dozen; water melons, (is to 7s per dozen. Drays were sold at £3, £4 15s, and £5.
