DEMAND IN MELBOURNE FOR THAMES MINING PROPERTIES.
For some time past in Auckland there has been a steady inquiry privately from Melbourne for the offer, in writing, of good promising mining ventures for the Melbourne market, and we believe that the sale of one or two of these properties will very shortly be reported. The market there is by no means exhausted, and yesterday one of the leading citizens of Auckland received a cable message from a large and wealthy firm in Melbourne, instructing him to organise and send, out an experienced and reliable prospecting party, and to peg out a good area of country should any reefs of promising appearance be discovered. The firm . from which the cable message emanated h well-known in Melbourne, and has evidently received information about the Upper Thames district which it deems of importance. We believe a reliable prospecting party will immediately be sent out as requested. '
