This Northern race meeting is alwaj r s successful in drawing a goodly number of visitors from Auckland. On this occasion passengers for the races will leave Auckland by the morning Kaipara train (quarter-past seven a.m.), the Wairoa steamer taking her departure immediately on its arrival at Helensville, and reaching Dargaville the samo evening. A visit to the freshwater lakes, the sand hills, and the romantic scenery on tho West Coast, only a few miles drive out of Dargaville by well-appointed vehicles on a gooa road, or an inspection of the Kaihu Valley railway, as far as it is constructed, showing many fertile spots in the Northern Wairojt, will well repay Auckland visitors so spending their Tuesday pending the race meeting the two following days. The return to town can be made by steamers, leaving Dargaville either Thursday or Friday evenings. Sextant is a firm favourite for the Hawke's Bay Cup at 5 to 2.
