NIGHTSOIL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—Seeing in your paper of yesterday a letter signed by J. M. F., touching on the nightsoil question, I endorse everything contained therein, and would like to suggest at the same time that the City Council send some reliable person to superintend the ; discharging of the carts, and report to the Council as to where it has been deposited. The Council are getting short of water at tha Western Springs, ana they propose taking in Edgcumbe's creek, adjoining the Springs. For the information of the public I might state that Edgcumbe's Creek is adjoining Mr. White's farm (present night-soil depot) 1 have no doubt whatever in stating that if it were possible to trace the origin of the fever at the present time in the Ponsonby district, that the night-soil and the nightdepot, as well as other factories referred to, are the cause. In my opinion the whole thing wants re-organising.—l am, &c., J as. Wilson. Brown-street, Ponsonby, March 8, 1888.
