Macky.— £20 12s 4d, for concreting, excavating, and other work done, Mr. Mahony appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Alexander for the defendant. After hearing the evidence of the plaintiff and other witnesses, His Worship disallowed some of the items, and gave judgment for £10 7s, with costs £4 13s.

Thumas Hill v. Rev. Gideon Smales.— Claim £15 19s Id for wages at 12s a week, for groceries supplied, commission at 15 per cent., and other items. Mr. Buckland appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Theo. Cooper for the defendant. The plaintiff had already had the case tried no fewer than five times, the lawyers he had successively engaged being Messrs. Brassey, O'Meagher, Speed, Dr. Laishley, and Mr. Buckland. After argument, it was agreed to reduce the olaim to £11 19s 4d, After hearing evidence, Hie Worship gave judgment for plaintiff for 10s, without costs?

Dr. Laishley v. It. McCracken.—Claim £4 14s, commission for arranging a mortgage loan of £400. Mr, Theo. Cooper appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Buckland for the defendant. After hearing evidence, judgment was given for plaintiff for full amount claimed, with costs, £1 6s 6d,

Owens v. Lowndes. Claim, 19s, for oysters supplied. Plaintiff and dofendant conducted their own case. Judgment was given for plaintiff for 13s, costs 17s.

POLICE COURT.—Thursday. [Before Messrs. S.jY. Collins, and H. Wilding, J.P.'e.] Drunkenness. — Luther Martyn and Frederic Funke, were each fined 5s and costs for being drnnk in Queen-street. William Hutchinson, on remand from thesthinst., was fined 10s and costs for a similar offence. Thomas Cook, who was found in a state bordering on delirium in Great North Road, by Constable Clarke, was remanded till the 18th inst. in order that he might recover from the effect of his bout.

Absentee Sailor.— Fredk. Vincent, on remand, was charged with deserting from B.M.s. Rapid on the sth January, Accused stated that he was absent from his ship on leave. fie was remanded in order to be sent to rejoin the Rapid at Wellington. Wife Desertion.Walter L. Walsh was charged that on, the 22nd December, he unlawfully left his wife, Mary A. Walsh, at Wellington, without adequate means of support. On the application of Sergeant Gamble, the defendant was remanded till the 17th inst. that he might be forwarded to Wellington, to answer the charge preferred against him there. Alleged Larceny.—Elizabeth Maloney was charged with stealing five ladies' companions, one pair silver earrings, one pipe, one necklace, one satchel, three pairs scissors, one brooch, three vases, one mug, one lace collarette, three aprons, and some other small articles, of the total value of £1 0s 9d, the property of Mrs L. Soharrer, of Greystreet. Sergeant; Gamble stated that the police had reason to believe that the name given by the accused was an assumed one, and he asked for a remand, that the police might make enquiries. The case was adjourned till next day.
