BANKRUPTCY.
J. B. Lock hart.—James Brace Lockhart was examined by the Official Assignee yesterday, and said lam a builder. I £«ve carried on business atOtahuhu for five years. I bad no capital when I started, but was free from debt. £ did fairly well for the first two years and a half, but sinoe then business has been very dull. I took two contraots at Otahnha two years ago, on which i lost about £100. After these were completed I was out of employment for some time ; in faofc, I have been practically out of work lor the last eighteen months, and having a wife and family to keep I have been compelled to go into debt for necessaries to the amount of about £25, and have also used money which should have been paid on trade accounts. The furniture in my house belongs to my wife, it having been her property prior to our marriage. I have nothing in the shape of assets excepting tools and effects, which I value at £10. I have no offer to make; nor do I see any prospeot, considering the condition of business, of being able to do anything towards satisfying my creditors.
