London, September 23. Mr. Frank Stuart, late chairman of the Victorian Chamber of Manufactures, has paid a visit to Manchester. He states that manufacturers of woollen goods are afraid to exhibit at the Melbourne Exhibition, apprehending boycotting by the Victorian manufacturers.
The Bank of Australasia shares have fallen ten shillings. Beet sugar is quoted at lis 9d per cwt.
London, September 24. The Rev. Cameron Lees, who was appointed temporarily to the pastorship of the Scots' Church, Melbourne, has written a letter to the Scotsman, in which he states that he would never have lost much had he never seen Sydney and its beautiful harbour, and Le is persuaded to the belief that the future of Australia lies with Victoria ravher than with New South Wales.
