[reuter's telegram.] THE EARL AND COUNTESS OF ABERDEEN. Melbourne, April 13. ' The Earl and. Countess of Aberdeen returned to Melbourne to-day from Tasmania. ADMIRAL FAIRFAX AND THE VIC- 1 TORIAN DEFENCES. Melbourne, April 13. Admiral Fairfax conferred with Mr, Gillies to-day regarding the Victorian defences. He promised that at an early date he would return to Melbourne, for the purpose of inspecting the Victorian fortifications. MELBOURNE MARKETS. Melbourne, April 13. The manager of the Mortgage Agency Company reports as follows of the local market: —Wheat, os lOd to 3s 10£ d, steady; barley, 4s 6d to 5s 6d, quiet; oats (feed sorts), 2s 7d to 2s lOd, prices barely maintained ; oats j (milling sorts), 2s lOd to 3s, rather weaker; New Zealand oats under bond, Is lid to 2s 2d, slow of sale.
