NEWTON GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTS

These sports were held in the Domain yesterday. The weather was delightfully cool, and the different events were keenly contested. The prizes were valuable and handsome. The school cup was a beautiful piece of workmanship, and was purchased at Messrs. T. and 8. Aiorrin's. The parents of the pupils and friends subscribed liberally, as well as presented valuable prizes for competition. The following are the events and results : — Handicap (lOOyda). Ist prize, cricket ball, gift of Mr. Isaacs ; 2nd, breast pin.— W. Hamley, scratch ; Colo, 2yds ; Holland and Froude, 4yds. Holland, 1 ; Hamley, 2. School Cop, first heat 100 yards. Ist prize, cup ; 2nd, knife with six pieces, and German coin, the gift of Mr. Fleming— Wood, scratch ; Smith and Dickey, 4yds ; iW. Hamley, Gyds; Holland and Froude, 7yds; Cole, Syds.
