VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
" 0" Battery of Artillery.— A parade of the "0" Battery, No. 2 Regiment of Artillery, was held at the Point Resolution Battery last night. There was a fair muster, Captain George being in command, and Lieutenants Wasteneys and Gilmore were also present. Gun squads were told off, and put through big-gun drill, under the supervision of Lieutenant Gilmore. The signalling corps was also in attendance, and given some practice under direction of Sergeant Haultain. Gas is much needed at the cattery, the company have provided the lamps, <fcc, and are waiting for the Government to lay it on. It will be a great boon so soon as the necessary connections are made. In connection with the Easter encampment we learn that the commander-in-chief, having expressed a : wish to see the battery receiving practical | instruction in their duties at big-gnn drill ! during Easter, the men will be stationed at Fort Cautley, where tent accommodation will probably bo provided for them. The Battery having accepted a challenge from ; the Queen's Own Rifles to fire a return match, it will take place at the range on Saturday afternoon next, commencing at two o'clock. The conditions are ten men aside ; ranges, 200, 300, and 500 yards ; five shots at each distance. Davom'ort Naval Artiilkry.— The adjourned annual meeting of the Devonport Naval Artillery, for the purpose of passing the accounts, &c, will bo held on Friday night. Skirmishing Drill.—ln connection with the Easter Encampment, we understand that there will be instruction in this useful military drill at the battalion parades, held prior to going into camp. Mketisg of Officers. There will be a meeting of officers of corps at the district office to-morrow (Friday), at four p.m., to arrange details, &c., of the Easter encampment.
