ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

ACCEPTANCE OF WATERWORKS TENDER. The adjourned meeting of the above Coun. cil, for the purpose of receiving tenders for the proposed waterworks, waß held in the Council Chamber last night. There were present : His Worship the Mayor (Dr. W. G. Scott), Councillors Hill, Sheldrick, Jackson, Tapp, Keehan, Goldsbury. Mr. Lundon (of Boylan and Lundon, borough engineers) was present with the tenders received. Prior to the tenders being opened, Mr. Jackson suggested the advisability of the Council going into committee, and moved accordingly, which was seconded by the Mayor, and agreed to. The Mayor moved, "That the tender marked "Late" be not dealt with, but considered informal." Agreed to. The following tenders were then read:— William Brierly, £5369 17s 8d ; Lovett and White, £5697 ; Marks and Heath, £6287 18s 6d ; Marshall and Bailey, £5158 14s 8d ; S. Clarke and Co., £5726 7s 4d ; William Bluden, £6863 3s ; William Foughev (informal), £6285 12s lid ; Daniel Fallon, £5907 lls6d ; Fogg and Edgar, £5849 3s lOd ; Callan and Regan (informal), £6481. The Mayor moved that the tender of Messrs. Marshall and Bailey be accepted, and the tender of Mr. Brierly be retained. He said the tenders received were moat satisfactory. It was agreed that the committee recommend the acceptance of the lowest tender. The Council then resumed, when the Mayor moved "That the tender of Messrs. Marshall and Bailey, amounting to £5158 14s Bd, be accepted, and the tender of Mr. Brierly be retained." Carried. The matter of preparing the bonds was left to Mr. F. W. Brookfield, on the motion of Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Hill. Alteration of Meeting Night.On the motion of Mr. Hill, seconded by Mr. Wilson, it was agreed to meet on Tuesday, 28th. Notice of Motion.—Mr. Jackson is to move at next meeting " That the amount now standing at credit of the recreation, cemetery, and- rifle range reserve be moved from the borough fund, and, with all future receipts from the same souroes, be placed on deposit at interest."
