CROWN LANDS BOARD.

♦ The usual meeting of the Crown Lands Board took place yesterday afternoon. Present: Mr. D. A. Tole (Chief CommieBioner, in the obair), Dr. Campbell, and Meiers. J. Baber, W. P. Moat, end Pef roe.

Cokrkspondencb — From the Under-Seore, tary of Crown Lands, direoting attention to the notification in Gazette No. 54, declaring State forests as in sohedule attached ; also, to a notification in the same Gazette, permanently reserving lande for cemetery and other purposes, of which schedule attached. —From the Assistant Surveyor-General, reporting an application made by Messrs. Napier and Shera, on behalf of Messrs. Hopkins and Co., to fell timber on Whaingaroa lande; he recommended the land to be subdivided, and offered for sale.— From same officer, advising lease of land at Karaoi, applied for by Natana Patnawa, under appendix Ato Land Aot: Board reeolved to offer land for leaie.—From same officer, forwarding report on lots in parish of Waiwera : Resolved to offer them for sale.— From William Dent, stating that land to be offered on the deferred payment system at Eaitara contained gold and silver in payable quantities, and forwarded report of analyst: Resolved to bold the matter over until the surveyor reports on the land now being surveyed.—From R. P. Weaver, requesting to be allowed to ere ifc his dwelling-house upon his brother's homestead selection, his own consisting of swamp.—lt was decided to ask the Survey Department to construct a road, as a house could not be put on adjacent section. —From £. G. Moss, Tanranga, on behalf of Mr. Tuthill, to be allowed to remove improvements from Crown land, temporarily occupied by him. Granted.—From Crown lands ranger, forwarding report upon homestead selections at Puhoi. Resolved to issue grants to following persons :—Peter Bayer, Jacob Maltrua, Michael Paul, Wenzel Paul, Anton Sechedewi, and Gregor Wenzlik.— From Receiver of Land Revenue, reporting that a certain deposit under section 50, subsection 2, Land Aot, 1885, was forfeited, namely, that of Thomas flandley, for lots 59 and 260, Okura. Board declared it to be forfeited.— By Joseph Philip, for Crown grant for land selected under immigration land order by Messrs. Philips and Williams. Grant to issue.—By Laurence MoGovern, for Crown grant of land at Matangata. Granted.—By John Mackay, for permission to re-enter upon his homestead selection at Waipu. Resolved to adhere to former decision.— By Mr. Bridioker, to have npiet price of allotment at Kohukohu, which was offered for sale, but passed, reduced. Resolved to ask Assistant Surveyor-General to advise.—By Edward Johnson, to have 50 acres in parish of Aotea open for selection for perpetual lease. Resolved, on recommendation of Aβ sistanj; Surveyor-General to offer land tor sale.—By D. Malone and others, for sale of lot 57, town of Ormond, being required for site of Roman Catholic Church. Request granted.—By Thomas Gatheroole, to purchase part of lot 3, parish of Hoteo. Resolved to offer land for sale.

Applications.—By Henry Johnston, to have a piece of Mangrovo Flat, Kaipara Harbour, offered for sale. Decided to have it inspected by surveyor. By John C. Johnstone, to have section 5, block 6, Opua" whauga, offered for sale, subject to bis improvements. Resolved to offer it accordingly. By W. F. Duncan, to have sect'on 4, block 6, Whananaki, offered on deferred payment. Declined. By the Whangarei Coal Company, for a, prospecting license for coal over certain Crown lands in parishes of Ohiwa and Parahaki. Permission granted, under the usual conditions. By Board of Education, for sohopl site near Cabbage Bay, containing about five acres. Granted. By W. E. Flower, for 240 acres under Homestead Act at Mareretu. Agreed to. By J. H. MoCarroll, for 75 acres at same place. Also agreed to. By J£. J. Magee r , for lot 39, Waoku. Approved. Kobert Browning to have southern portion of lot 171, Parish of Hunua, offered for sale. Request complied with. By Alf red Woodoook, to take up lots 22 and 52, Parish of Ahuroa on the deferred payment system. Agreed to. By Alfred Holmes, for lots 19 and 44a, settlement of Kariotani, be offered for sale. Agreed to. By Peter Byer, for sale of 140 acres of Crown land adjoining hie homestead selection at Waiwera. Resolved to offer same for sale after survey.
