Wellington, Monday. Mb, C. Richardson, of the Property Tax Department, succeeds Mr. MacAlister in the Justice Department. Mr. Waldegrave becomes private secretary to the Minister of Justice. The Wellington Bootmakers' Society have considered the correspondence received from the Auckland Society in reference to trade matters, and have decided to form a deputation to wait on the Colonial Treasurer, and urge a re-adjustment of the tariff as regards bootmakers' requisites. CHRisTCHOBoir, Monday. Yesterday Mr. P. D. Mansell, of the Chriatchurch Bicycle Club, accomplished 200 miles in 123 hours, going from Ohristohurch to Leeston and back three times, and once from Christchurch to Springston and back. The roads were good except one place newly metalled. Donedin, Monday. Registrar Gordon has been appointed sheriff. The Dunedin Hussars were under canvas to-day for annual training.
