! A meeting of the committee took place ( yesterday. Present: Mr. Oliver Mays, chairman; Messrs, A. Kidd, W. J. Suiter, . and E. A. Maokechnie. Correspondence.—Dr. Bond expressed . his willingness to hold his post till the end of : the year. The letter was received.Dr. ' Maokellar, being about to leave Auckland for a month, desired to make arrangements for his Hospital cases. Permission granted, . subject to substitute being approved.— Letter from Premier's Office, Wellington, respecting claim for subsidy to Women's Home, Parnell. It suggested that institution should be incorporated under the Charitable Institutions Act, 1885. It was resolvod to forward the letter to Mrs. Cowie.—Letter from Premier's . Office, answering request for Government to direct amount due to District Board by a number of local authorities to be deducted according to section 29 of the Hospital Act. In case of authorities which, by section 40 of the Act, are now plaoed in the Waikato diß- • triot, the Premier stated he did not feel justified in deducting mora than the proportionate sums due by them to date on I whioh last-mentioned Act came into force; . but it was open for the Board to sue for il remainder of the amount. Further referring 1 to letter sent on the 27th ultimo, requesting ( I Board to pay Maungatatauri Road Board £5 i 7s, excess in deduotion. On the motion of Mr Mackechnie, it was resolved to communi- ' cate with the Government, pointing out that its action would plaoe the Board in a false position, and requested the Premier to reconsider his decision.—Letter from secretary of Charitable Aid Office, Christohurch, applying for information as to the amount received ( or coming to the Board by way of subsidy or ( voluntary contributions for charitable aid purposes during the last few months. The object was to compare districts for subsidy with each other, since the Act came into operatioon.
