MASONIC.
Tub regular monthly communication of the Lodge United Servioe, No. 451, 1.C., was held at the Freemasons' Hall, Princessstreet, on Wednesday evening. There was a large attendance of brethren and visitors. Lodge Ara officers, under the W.M., Bro. Kidd, attended as a lodge, and there were also present Pastmasters Russell, Clarke, and other distinguished members of the craft. The ordinary lodge business having been disposed of, the W.M., Bro. Allen, on behalf of the lodge, presented to Bro. Craig. the retiring Master, a Pastmaster's jewel of very elegant workmanship. The jewel, of solid gold, comprises three clasps elegantly ohased and engraved. They bear the inscription " Lodge United Service, 451, 1.C." Tht reverse side of the jewel on the square las the following inscription, " Presented to Brother W. Craig by the brethren of Lodge No. 451. I.C, Auckland, September 29, 1886." The workmanship is very excellent and highly creditable to Brother Cookson, of the Thames, by whom it waa manufactured to the order of Brother Trafford, Senior Warden of Lodge United Service. In making the presentation the W.M. referred to the very valuable services rendered t<: the lodge during the time he was in office; and not only to tho lodge with which he was directly conneoted but to Masonry generally in Auckland. Brother Craig suitably responded, and expressed his appreciation of the good feeling shown to him by the officers while he occupied the ohair of the lodge. After tne lodge wae closed the brethren re-assemhled in the refreshmentroom, and Brother Craig again received the congratulations of the brethren.
