Tho Shaw, Savill, and Albion Co.'s s.s. Arawa came into harbour on Tuesday, July 6, from London, having en route called at Plymouth, Teneriffe, Capetown, Hobart, and Dunedin. Upon tho present trip (tho seconi visit to Auckland), the Arawa left Plymouth with 256 passengers, of which 2S were first saloon, 42 second saloon, and 186 third-class. At Teneriilo she landed three tirst-class passengers, and at Capetown an addition w.iq made of three first, two second, and 15 third class passengers. At Hobart she landed 19 first, five second, and 100 third class ptssengers; and for New Zealand ports this left nine first, 40 second, and 100 third-class passengers, and they all arrived in excellent lie .ltli, and these that came on to this port with the vessel speak most highly of the care and attention bestowed upon them by Captain Stuart, during the voyage. Tho Arawa, en her trip up tho New Zealand coast, made excellent time, having averaged over 14 knots from Dunedin—no mean work. The Arawa's passage from Plymouth to Ota go Heads occupied 41 days 15 hours 28 minutes. Two deaths have occurred on the voyage— that of John llickson. aged 22 years, from consumption, on June 14 ; and John A been, a baby, on the next day, from pneumonia. ARRIVAL OF THE AKAROA. On Monday, June 28. Messrs. Shaw, Savill and Albion Go. .s barque Akaroa, came into hubour in completion of another voyage from Loudon. No sooner was the signal hoisted on Monday morning that the vessel was in sight, than the steamtug Awhina proceeded out, to meet the vessel, and meeting her in the Gulf took her in tow and brought her to an anchorage at the i powder ground, where she remained until relieved of her explosives. Upon the barque anchoring, she was at once visited by Dr. Lewis, j tho Health Oiiicer, who finding everyone in good health, presented Captain Bowling with the j ever welcome clean bill of health. The passage, ! we learn, has not been an altogether uneventful one, two deaths having occurred to rear the pleasures of the trip. Both were from consumption, one victim being a member of the ship's crew, and the other that of a passenger named V. E. Hook. In other respects the trip has been of the usual nature, excepting that between the officers and the passengers a most cordial feeling has existed from the very start of the voyage, and as a proof of the good feeling that prevailed. Captain Bowling was presented with a very flittering testimonial. ARRIVAL OF THE MARIPOSA. The K.M.s.s. There was a thick fog on at the time, but the signal lights could be seen above it. The sea was irrogular, alternate heavy rollers and tolerably smooth seas. After getting outside she met a succession of heavy seap, which were hid by the fog. The first one she negotiated successfully; but, it being followed by four or five others, she could make no headway, and was finally landed high and dry by a heavy sea without striking previously. The moment she struck some sailors jumped ashore and made her fast. She now lies out of reach of all but un. usually high seas. She is insured for £1000 in the New Zealand office, and it. is thought also for £500 in the Victoria. She could be easily floated through the lagoon, except for the Northern Crown harbour works, To launoh her along
