AUCKLAND EXPORTS.

Thb export# from the port of Auckland during the past quarter ending the 30th June last amounted to £196,797, of which amount £153,614 was the value of New Zealand products, and the balance (£38,1 S3) the value of British and foreign manufactured articles. Amongst the articles of New Zealand product included in the above-mentioned amount we may mention that horses (46) contributed £2515; horned cattle 1123), £459 ; sheep (1054), £588 bacon and hams, 179}cwt, £729 ; beer, 1793 gallons, £190; biscuits, 2611cwt, £1746 ; books, 1G packages, £456; boots, 24 6-12 dozen pairs, £109 ; bran, &c., 2889 centals, £852. Butter contributed no less than 2452uwt, and its value is set down at £12,867. Cheese was sent away to the extent of 14S7cwt, and valued at £4022; flour. 8274 centals, £4237 ; doors (1004), £659. Kauri gum is represented by 1282 tons, valued at £63,677 ; hides. £1959. Of preserved meats 4212cwt were sent away, valued at £8364 ; and salt beef contributed 256icwt, value £3320; flax, 84 ton*, £1374; potatoes, 213 tons, £1055; soap, 938ewt, £955 ; tallow, 389 tons, £7680 ; timber, undressed, 718,540 feet, £3790; dressed, 794,255 feet, £5406 ; wool, greasy, 91,C101b, £2288; scoured, 69.8441b. £'J320 ; washed, 90,6361b, £3205, It may prove of interest to our readers to know something as to the direction in which our export trade largely extends. Of £729 worth of bacon and hams sent away, £261 worth was sent to Western Australia, £230 worth to Fiji, £44 to New Caledonia, £74 worth to the Navigators, and the balance was distributed amongst New South Wales and the islands of the South Seas. Of £190 worth of beer sent hence, Fiji consumed £152 ; Western Australia, £12 ; and Cook's Island £14 worth. Biscuits totalled £1746, and Western Australia took £817; Fiji, £384; Phoeaix Group, £106 ; Suwarrow Island, £91 ; and the balance went to the South Sea Islands in smaller quantities. Of the £12,867 worth of butter exported New South Wales proved the largest customer, taking 1943 c valued at £10,163; Victoria came next with £1000 worth ; then followed Nouth Australia with £500 ; Fiji, £496 ; Queensland, £331 ; "Western Australia, £108; New Caledonia, £72 ; and the balance to Islands of the South Sea. Cheese sent away amounted to £4022, and again for this article New South Wales came first with £2939 ; Queensland following with £388; Victoria with £277 ; and Fiji and Western Australia with £143 worth each. Bengal was represented with £57 worth, and New Caledonia with £33. Western Australia proved our best customer for cordage, obtaining £103 worth out of a total of £172 exported, Navigator Islands taking £43, and Mew Caledonia £15. In the matter of curiosities, £200 worth was sent away to the United Kingdom, the balance, £7 worth, being to Australian ports. In ready-made doors, out of a total of £659 worth, New South Wales received £627, and the rest went to South Sea Islands. Of canned fish, in respect of which bonus may be claimed, 2401b were sent away to the Navigator Islands. Its value is set down at £7. Here, it may be worthy of notice, as indicating the growing demand for this article, that 48001b of canned mallet have just been sent to London by the Tongariro, in response to an order from that market, resulting from the satisfaction which samples previously forwarded had given, and which, there is reason to believe, will be followed by much larger orders. Flour, like butter and cheese, was mostly exported to New South Wales, for out of a value ot £4237 that colony obtained £3080 worth. Fiji came next with £402, Western Australia with £363. New South Wales again became our principle port, it taking £584 worth | out of £1074 worth sent away. Western Australia took £258, and Sandwich Islands £192. Kauri gum was most largely sent to America, that country having taken £37,942 worth, and the United Kingdom with £25,631, the balance going to Victoria (£54) and New South Wales (£SO). For our surplus hides, in a raw state Victoria proves the best customer, taking £1745 worth out of £1959 worth exported. San Francisco comes next with £IS4, and New South Wales with £30. Frozen meat went wholly to the United Kingdom to the value of £2650. Preserved meats were distributed over a very large area, Fiji took £1550; New South Wales, £1393 ; United Kingdom, £832; Navigator Islands, £655; Society Islands, £581 ; Western Australia, £222 ; Cook Group, £159; Victoria, £75; Friendly Islands, £73; Phcenix Group, £(37 ; Austral Islands, £36. Salt beef likewise was widespread. New South Wales was again our good friend to the extent of £1213, out of £3320; Fiji, £91S; Navigator, £573; Sooioty, £226 ; smaller lots being sent to Western Australia, Queensland, Mauritius, Friendly, Suwarrow, and other South Sea Islands. Of salted mutton New South Wales took the whole of our export, £S2 worth, and of salted pork, out of £353 worth, New South Wales received £269; Fiji, £58; Society, £1S ; and Phcenix Group, £S. Flax was sent away to the value of £1374, of which £1300 was sent to the United Kingdom, £72 to New South Wales, and £2 to Japan. Fiji made the greatest demand upon us for potatoes, receiving £3SO worth ; Sandwich Islands, £ISS ; Friendly, £134; New Caledonia, £64; Navigator, £56; Cook, £51 ; Western Australia, £81. Fiji took £577 worth of soap out of £955 worth exported ; Society, £129 ; Friendly, £76; Austral, £5-; Cook, £4S ; Western Australia, £43. Tallow was sent only to the United Kingdom and New South Wales, £7197 to the former and £483 worth to the latter place. Of timber, New South Wales took all our exported hewn, £495 worth. Of dressed, New South Wales received £2715 ; Queensland, £979; Victoria, £700 ; Fiji, £284 ; New Caledonia, £215 ; Friendly, £156 ; Cook, £145 ; other South Sea Islands taking the balance, Of undressed timber, New South Wales again proved our best customer, with £1350; Queensland, £905; Western Australia, £625 ; United Kingdom, £338, and Friendly Islands £280 worth, out of £3790 worth exported. Of wooden ware, New South Wales took £562; Friendly Islands, £201 ; Tasmania, £93 ; and South Australia, £70 worth, out of £105S worth sent away. Of wool, valued at £7816, the United Kingdom took the whole lot, excepting £293 worth of greasy Bent to New South Wales. All the gold, £10,052 worth, went to the United Kingdom.
