THE VICTORIAN GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE MEETING. [REDTKR's telegram.] Melbourne, July 17. The V.R.C. Steeplechase meeting took place at Flemington to-day. The weather was favourable and the attendance of specta* tors good. The principal races resulted as follows — Grand National Hurdle Race, of lOaova. each, with 400 added; second, SOsovb ; third, 25»ovs. About three miles. Mr. W. Moffat's b g Ocean, aged, 9«t 31b 1 Mr. G. O'Brien's br m Ruby, aged lOit 121b ... 7. ... 2 Mr. M. Loughlin's br h Sheet Anchor, 6yrs, list 101b M 3 Ocean won easily. Time, sm. 35& sec. Grand National Steeplechase, of ISaova each, with 500 added; second, 50sov*; third, 25sors. About three miles. Mr. M. Loughlin's b g Game, aged, by Panic Edith, list 101b 1 Mr. E. Martin's b g Native, aged, lOst Bl.b .... ... 2 Hon. W. Pearson's br m Lady Ashton, aged, list 51b 3 Game won easily by six lengths. Time, 6m. 4836 C.
