HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The weekly meeting of tbe Executive Committee of fciie District Hospital and Charitable Aid Bcnrd was held at the Victoria Arcade yesterday afternoon. Present: — The Mayor (Mr. W. R. Waddel) in the chair, and Messrs. J. H. Hudson, O. Mays, A. Kidd, VV. J. Suiter. Hospital E.vdowmksts.—A communication wae read from the Premier's office, Wellington, in reply to the committee, as to what endowments vested in the Hoard, and forwarded copy of statement prepared in the Public Trustee's office of the amount to credit of the Auckland Hospital from reserves held to secure the repayment of the loan out of which the building was erected. The net amount of interest and rents to date was £3417 Is, and liabilities £1125, leaving a balance of £2292 Is to credit. Resolved that application be made for the amount. Purchase of Drvgs —It was resolved that tenders should be invited from tho local firms for tbe supply of drugs, the tendere to give quotations of at per cent, advance on English cost, and to state manufacturers. An Acknowledgment.—The following letter was read from a late inmate of the Old Men's Refuge:—"On leaving for Sydney, in accordauce with medical advice for a change of climate, I desire to return you my mo3t sincern thanks for your kindness in helping mo by giving me an outfit, the secretary for his uniform courtesy, and Mrs. Brophy for her motherly kindnesu aud consideration during the time I have been at the Refuge under her charge. — With gratitude, I beg to remain, yours respectfully, Allan McDonald." Received. Skal of I?o\kd. —Two deeigns were received for the seal of the Board, They beicg considered insufficient, the cocsideratiou ot the question was deferred. Application fob Admission. — M. J. Sherman, a former inmato of the Hospital for eighteen months, and who hail been recently discharged, applied for re-arlmission, He interviewed the committee. A certificate was read from the House Surgeon stating that Sherman was unable to perform hard work. Jt was agreed to leave the matter of relief at the discretion of tho chairman.
