[own oohrkspondknt.] Kaeo, Tuesday. Mb. Hobbs held a moot successful meeting here on Monday eveaing. It was well attended, and a vote of confidence vu passed with applause. [PRESS association.] _ New Plymouth, Tuesday. Colonel Whitmore is holding an inspection of the volunteer corps in this district, including the Inglewood and Haw era men who arrived this morn, by train. At the review to-day Colonel Whitmore said the movements were executed in a, highly creditable manner. Chbistohujrch, Tuesday. On examination of the four cases of nalmon ova, the Canterbury consignment; of: the lonic's shipment, it was found that a large number were dead, bat about half the ova are good, and this is considered a very satisfactory result. In the case of trout ova all the eggs were dead, it is supposed from being frozen during the passage out. ■~.■■ Dunedin, Tuesday* To-day, being Anniversary Day, was observed as a general holiday, • and the sports and excursions were well patronised.
