HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.
A msiting of the Hospital Committee was held at the office, Wyndham-street, yesterday afternoon. Present: Mr. W. R. Waddel (Chairman), Colonel Haul tain, Mr. S.< Dando, Mr. T. Peacock, M.H.R., Mr. EL A. M&okechnie, Mr. F. Jeune, and Mr. J. M. Clark. Payment of Stat*. — The following correspondence between the committee and the Government, re payment of staff, was »ad:—"To the Hon. Colonial Secretary : Hospital Management Committee in meeting to-day are surprised at pay-sheet being sent back after being expressly requested in your letter, 28th September, to hold office until District Board undertakes its full duties. Please instruct me how tbe staff are to be paid for this month. W. R. Waddel, Chairman." —To W. R. Waddell, Esq.: Re your telegram as to payment of Hospital staff. Premier directs mo say that control of Hospital has passed from Government to Board; that committee must apply to Board, and that Government will favourably consider application of Board for temporary advance for December expenses if absolutely necessary— H. Govett."—Mr Peacock •aid that the present committee would cease its functions on the 22nd ioat. It was resolved to forward the correspondence for the information of the Charitable Institutions Board. Accounts. —The reoeipts for the year have been £601 4s 4d; expenditure, £6302 17s. This does not include payment of Staff for December. Nuisance. letter was received Sfrom the City Council, enclosing letter from Mr. J. M. Speed, complaining of nuisance caused by pigstyes in the grounds of the Old Men's Refuge. It was agreed to inform Mr. Speed that most of the pigs have been sold, and that further dealing with the matter must be by the new Board of Management. Subscriptions Returned.—lt was resolved to retain a number of subscriptions which had been received in aid of the Hospital funds. It was also resolved to hand over the convalescent fund to the new Board. Pinal Meeting or the Committee.— The Chairman said he would call a final meeting of the committee shortly. He did not. think the members of the committee would be required to give any further services as a committee of management of the Auckland Hospital. The Chairman thanked the gentlemen present for the services they bad rendered to the Hospital.
