SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
Yesterday afternoon a pattern-maker, named George Ethel, in the employ of Mr. George Fraser, of the Phcenix Foundry, met with a serious accident while working at the Calliope Dock. While engaged some 40 feet from the level, he missed his footing and fell to the bottom, becoming unconscious. There being no medical aid at hand, it was deemed better to remove the unfortunate man to the Hospital at once. Constable Hutchinson got a vehicle and brought him to the Victoria Wharf, where he was transferred to the ferry steamer, and thence to the Hospital. Ethel had not, up to a late hour last night, recovered consciousness at the Hospital, and it is feared he has received injury to the brain.
