NEW ZEALAND VOLUNTEERS FOR THE SOUDAN.

Me. A. D. Bennett has sent the following telegram to the Hon. Colonial Secretary :— "Auckland, March 7th, 1885. To Hon. P. A. Buckley, Wellington: A number of the men who desire to be enrolled to represent this colony propose to leave here and join in Australia, if Government think no inducement will be offered. This appears a pity, and I promised to wire you.Arthur D. Bennett." A telegram of yesterday's date from Danedin is as follows :—" In view of the decision of the home Government to accept volunteers from all the colonies it has been determined to continue the enrolment of the Dunedin contingent. It i 3 further determined that in the event of no action being taken by the Government at Wellington with the view of forming a general contingent, that of Dunedin will join one or other of the sister colonies."
