There has been a good deal of doubt expressed as to whether the New Zealand champion Welcome Jack started for the Newmarket Handicap, run at Flemington on Saturday last. From Sydney papers to hand yesterday we notice that he had been supported for the race to win 000,.which sum was got at 1000's to 30, so there need be little doubt that the son of Traducer was amongst the starters. We have to call attention to the fact that the train leaves for Helensville for the Dargaville Races at a quarter-past seven a.m. on Thursday.
