ROWING ASSOCIATION REGATTA.D

The four-oar events of the Bowing Association Regatta, which the committee had decided to be rowed over again, took place on Saturday afternoon. The p.s. Victoria acted as flagship, and followed the various races. The courses decided upon were from the yacht anchorages off Judge's Bay to the Railway Wharf. The water was tolerably smooth, and much more favourable than on the 7th instant. _ The races were all started punctually to time, and the officers were most assiduous in the performance of their duties. Mr. D. Oxley was starter, Mr. J. M. Brigham discharged the duties of umpire, and Mr. C. C. Dacre was judge. The results were as follows:— '

Maidens (under lOst). — Shore, 1; West End, 2. There were only two entries for this event. At the start North Shore took the lead, but after having gone a quarter mile on their .journey one of their slides unshipped. West End took advantage of this, and got a clear length ahead.. h North Shore having fixed their slide, soon - overhauled their opponents, and came in easy winners, by about four lengths. ,]. : - V .":,■ .-...-;.

Senior Bona Fide , Amateurs.—West End, 1; North Shore, 2. r North Shore were the favourites for this event, but West End jumped away with the lead, and gradually increased it, passing the winning post four lengths .ahead. This was,a.very popular win, being the first win for the new club. }

Maidins (over lOat), — North Shore, 1; Ponsonby, 2; West End, 3. , There were three contestants for this event. North Shore was the favourite, and proved the trust put in them by making an easy win of it. ,' ..:-,-.',., '

Senior Amateurs.— Shore No. 1, 1; North Shore No. 2, 2. This was a contest between two North Shore erews, and was won easily by the No. 1 crew. . Junior Seniors.—North Shore, 1; West End, 2. West End were favourites for'this event, and took the lead at the start and maintained it for about a quarter of a mile, when North Shore challenged them and passed them, winning by about three lengths. Junior Amateurs North Shore, 1. This was a walk-over for North Shore.'
